Car Sales In Pakistan Dropped by 65% – PAMA

Concerning the Pakistani auto industry, the prevailing economic havoc has broken all the records – made a considerable dent. Even COVID-19 has not damaged as much as the recent fuss. Consequently, car sales observed a record 31-month slump in Pakistan – dropping by 65% (year-on-year decline).

Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has reported a month-on-month (MoM) decline of 36% selling 10,867 units in January compared to 17,012 in December 2022. Whilst passenger car sales decreased by 56%, sold 6,021 vehicles last month against 13,780 cars in Dec’22.

Company-Wise Sales Breakdown

The Japanese car giant in Pakistan, “Toyota Indus Motors,” recorded a downturn of 26% in its sales. The company sold 3,570 units in January against 2,823 units in December. (MoM decline: 26%)

Coming to Honda Atlas car sales, the company’s sales also posted a new low – dropped by 30%, selling 2,704 units in January compared to 2,079 units in December.

Pak Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) marked a surprising decline of 74%, surpassing fellow Toyota and Honda. The company sold 2,946 cars last month, contra 11,342 cars in December. (MoM decline: 74%)

Leaping over the ruling BIG 3, the new entrant, dubbed Hyundai Nishat shifted the sands. The company witnessed a massive jump of 81% selling 1,140 units last month compared to 631 units in Dec’22. (MoM growth: 81%)

It is related to mention that all other car companies, Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton, are not PAMA members. Their sales numbers are not included in the report.

Car-Wise Sales Breakdown

Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company sold 44 units of Alto, 534 units of Suzuki Cultus, 671 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 504 units of Suzuki Swift, 556 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 628 units of Suzuki Ravi.

Toyota Indus sold 1,719 units of Corolla and Yaris and 1,851 units of Fortuner andHilux.

Honda Atlas sold 1,620 units of Hilux. and City and 1,084 units of BR-V and HR-V.

Hyundai Nishat sold 173 units of Elantra, 191 units of Sonata, 156 units of Porter, and 620 units of Tucson.
