The Careem’s decision of introducing bus service in the intercity market instead of the intracity market seems to be that the company is thinking of something unique. Careem is a famous ride-hailing service which has provided the commuters with one of the easiest and safest modes of transport. This is an unexpected step by the Careem since the initial idea regarding the Careem’s bus service was different and if Careem launches the aforementioned service then the already present service of Airlift and SWVL will give it quite a tough time as they’ll be having the first mover’s advantage, as reported by the Pakistan Today.
The change in the plan of not entering the intracity market by the Careem has some solid reasons and among the reasons lack of profits or profit in general, maybe one of the important causes. Careem till now has neither denied nor confirmed this news.
Moreover, Careem has also launched WoW Service For Female Bike Riders. This service would be primarily for the girls who were not able to enjoy cheap bike service because of male bike riders. This ride would also be helpful for the female bike riders to earn their own money. WOW known as “Women on Wheels” rides, are initially starting from the largest city of Pakistan, i.e. Karachi, and later on, this service would be available in other major cities.
General Manager Careem-South, Asad Haider while briefing about this initiative mentioned said that:
“Careem has always been upfront and hailing such initiatives that empower women in Pakistan. Hence, Careem is looking forward to expanding its female Captains base and also providing them a financial empowerment platform to women. So, we believe that the WOW vehicle category will not only be able to create job opportunities for women but would also help break the stereotypes and help females enjoy the safe and affordable mode of transport.”
The article is titled “Careem launching bus service?” but most of the content in this article is about Careem’s new WoW service, for which another article has already been published.
