ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched a new mobile app that integrates Islamabad and Rawalpindi’s bus network with Google Maps, enabling passengers to track buses in real time. The initiative promises to make public transport more convenient, reliable, and eco-friendly.

Metro + Electric Bus Network Coverage

The system covers both the metro bus service and the electric bus feeder network, providing users with up-to-the-minute details on arrivals and departures. CDA officials say the step is designed to save time, improve travel planning, and make public transport more convenient for residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Electric Bus Expansion

Launched in July 2024, electric buses are now running across 13 feeder routes, including:

  • Faizabad–NUST
  • PIMS–Bari Imam
  • Police Lines–D-12
  • Aabpara–Taramri

Weekend tourist services are also available, connecting PIMS with popular destinations such as Daman-e-Koh and Shakarparian.

Metro Bus Integration

The metro network has also been fully integrated into the system. Its key corridors include the Red Line, stretching from Saddar to Pak Secretariat; the Orange Line, connecting Peshawar Mor with Islamabad International Airport; and the Green Line, running between Bhara Kahu and PIMS.

Additional services include the Blue Line from Gulberg to Faizabad and the Purple Line from Taramri to Aabpara. Together, these routes form the backbone of Islamabad’s mass transit system.

Passenger Benefits and Impact

Through the new app, passengers can:

  • Locate the nearest stop
  • View real-time arrival updates
  • Plan trips with greater accuracy

Officials believe the move will not only enhance the commuter experience but also reduce congestion and emissions across the capital.

Mobile App Availability

The CDA Mobile App is now live on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, marking a major step towards smarter, more sustainable public transport in the twin cities.
