“Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Competes For Best 7-Seater Crossover” – Owner Review
We’re back with the owner’s review of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, in which the owner shares his experience with this Chinese 7-seater and what made him buy it. The Chery Tiggo 8 pro was launched earlier this year by Ghandhara Nissan in collaboration with Chery Automobile. It is a 7-seater Crossover SUV with a 1.6 TGDI engine producing 195hp and 290Nm of torque. This engine is configured with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Purchase Decision
The owner previously kept several crossovers, including Sportage, MG HS, and Haval H6 and now wanted to shift towards a 7-seater which was his main requirement. He considered three cars in his budget, including the Oshan X7, Kia Sorento 3.5, and the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
The owner tested the Sorento’s drive and was very impressed with its power, but he felt that the interior was mediocre and the car lacked some features. He also considered the Oshan X7 but thought its ivory white interior would be hard to maintain. The owner went for the Tiggo 8 Pro as it had a list of futuristic features and was more aesthetically pleasing than the others. He bought the car at a price of around 6.7 million rupees.
Distinctive Features
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro has many features that give it an edge over its competition. As per the owner, the main advantage is its power; it has a 1.6TGDI engine which delivers amazing power. Plus, it has faux leather in the interior, which is very premium.
Advance features like ADAS include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, lane departure warning, front and rear collision warning, etc are also offered. According to the owner, these ADAS features are way more efficient than competitors. Moreover, the SONY sound system is also class-leading, with eight speakers in the cabin. It also has ambient lighting with colour options and the option to synchronize it with music.
Fuel Average
The company claims a fuel average of 12 to 13 km/l; however, the owner gets an average of around 9 to 9.5 km/l within the city and around 13 to 14 km/l on the highway at normal cruising speed.
Spare Parts
Although Chery is in their initial stages in the market, the parts’ prices and availability is surprisingly good, and the dealership network is also developing. According to the owner, parts are readily available, and the prices are also nominal. To put it into perspective, the front bumper costs less than the Kia Sportage’s bumper.
Missing Features
This feature-packed crossover has a list of frills; however, the owner misses some features which could have increased practicality and comfort. They include the lack of lane assist in the car, which the owner is a practical user of and thinks that its addition would have made his highway travel a lot more convenient. The second feature is ventilated seats which the Tiggo 8 pro misses out on, which would have enhanced driver comfort.
Space
According to the owner, the passenger space is pretty good; despite being a 7-seater, the second-row legroom is decent, and he has traveled with 8 passengers comfortably. However, he thinks the 3rd-row space is compromised as with most 7-seaters and is suitable for kids.
Maintenance Cost
The owner recently changed the engine oil, and it cost him 5000 rupees for the oil, which was 5 liters in quantity, while the oil filter costs Rs. 1,000. Add an air filter, and the landing cost is around Rs. 8000 per 5000 kilometers, which is relatively nominal.
Kia Sorento is a premium SUV with 2.4L engine a least and 4.80m long, Sorento beat all the cars mentionned in this article including this Chery tiggo 8 with a 1.6L engine only and 4.73m long.
But it is true this cherry tiggo 8 is better than changan with only a 1.5L engine, as well DFSK Glory.
Why would person buying a crossover care for car parts prices, it is understood that his buying power is good and that is why he was looking to stand out of the crowd. Anyways, in terms of pricing, Chinese cars are priced lower than Japanese and Korean because otherwise no one would even look twice at them because everyone knows, a Chinese product is disposable and cannot operate for a long-term period as well as a Japanese car.
