The monsoon season is here, and you know what that means – rainwater pools, slippery and muddy roads, and vehicle troubles. The Karachi Traffic Police has devised a free vehicle repairing service to help the citizens deal with vehicle issues and maintain the city’s traffic flow.
Karachi Traffic Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ahmed Cheema says the free vehicle repairing service will facilitate the citizens during vehicle emergencies.
Free Vehicle Repair Service
DIG Cheema says 26 patrolling traffic vehicles are on duty in Karachi. Out of 26, eight will patrol Shahrah-e-Faisal, five in the district south, three in the district west, and the rest on other busy roads, including major highways.
These service vehicles will have the necessary equipment to help citizens
- Fix punctures
- Inflate deflated tires
- Tow cars
- Extinguish fires
- Jump start cars
The service will also provide medical assistance to people in need.
If a vehicle stops moving, the patrolling vehicles will provide two litres of petrol to the car owners and half a litre to the motorcycle owners for the vehicles to reach the nearest petrol pump and prevent traffic jams.
If someone finds themselves in such an emergency, they can call the Traffic Police Helpline 1915 for help.
Launching the free vehicle repair service is a great step by the Karachi Traffic Police as the monsoon season brings a lot of hassles for the Karachiites. More departments should also follow this practice and offer this service in other cities.
