Toyota Indus Corolla was a well-received sedan for its budget-friendly pricing, modern styling, and suitable seating capacity for families. It remained in production from 1993 to 2001 and was available in different variants with respect to engine options and features. The highest trim level had a 2-litre engine specification under the badging of 2.0D. This restoration process focused on transforming the Indus Corolla into a 1.6 SE Saloon.

 Toyota Indus Corolla Restoration Process

When this project car was received, its body parts were heavily rusted. Otherwise, it had a well-performing engine, which was the main reason for buying this saloon. In the first process, its suspension was cleared, and the car was rust-proofed by applying an under coat and inner coat. Later, bodywork was started by patching, painting, and overhauling the engine room.

Exterior Updates

The bumper was replaced with a Subaru (JDM-market) Indus bumper. To improve the front show, a CARB grille and Canadian lights were installed. To add a sporty touch, 15-inch GTR rims, along with NS2 tires, were aligned. Retractable mirrors, chrome lining, taillights, garnish, bumpers, visors, and Corolla quarter glass shades were added.

The overall goal was to modernize the car with efficiency. For that, golden emblems were adhered to the rear, along with the fabrication of the antenna. Lastly, a paint job was done in the Black Pearl color theme to add sheen and glossy vibes.

Restyling Interior

Its overall interior was refreshed in a red and black color theme. Seats were redesigned and cushioned. An RFID sensor was installed for a push start. Dash was improved, and a new entertainment screen was installed. Other tweaks were console installation, wooden steering, and power windows were re-do.

Engine Overhauling

Engine tuning is the most critical factor in a restoration process, which results in good fuel economy and road performance. For this, engine overhauling was done by fitting the engine room, wiring, and tuning with compatible oil filters and lubricants. In addition, suspension and alignment were fixed to improve road handling.
