All of you know about the upcoming launch of the Honda Civic 2022 in Pakistan. Honda Atlas has revealed the sedan’s tentative prices and booking rates, increasing the excitement. Now, the first question comes to one’s mind is what is new in the car? How is it different or upgraded from the previous generations? Don’t worry; we are going to tell you in this blog.  Safety is one of the most discussed topics in the local auto industry, and how all of us have been complaining about the lack of it in locally assembled cars. And it seems Honda has finally addressed the issue as it is introducing a state-of-the-art safety technology in the new Honda Civic. The new tech named “Honda Sensing” is part of Honda’s global safety slogans.

The company dreams of a “collision-free mobile society” where Honda customers and everyone on the road can enjoy mobility freely and safely. Hence, the introduction of this new technology.

What is Honda Sensing?

In easy words, the Honda Sensing is a suite of functions to support while you drive your new Civic. This will not only keep you safe but also your car. Furthermore, the Honda Sensing is a combination of total six features. Let us discuss these features separately.

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)

The CMBS works if there is an object in front of your car and there is a collision threat. The system alert drivers through audible and visual alerts and even applies brakes. As per Honda, the system works in three stages:

  • It issues audible and visual warnings if there is an object in front of the car.
  • If the driver doesn’t take any action after these warnings, the car will start applying light brakes to avoid the collision.
  • If the system feels that collision is inevitable, it will apply hard brakes to stop the vehicle.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

This one is quite a famous safety feature in modern cars. Under ACC, the car drives itself at a set speed and applies brakes if there is an object/vehicle in front of it, and after the path is clear for the car, it will take the speed back to the set cruise. In short, it keeps the vehicle at a constant speed, increases the fuel average, and helps avoid any potential accident.

Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)

In RDM, the camera mounted on the windshield identifies the dotted lines, cat eyes, and bott’s dots on the side of the road. If the camera and RMD sense that the car is about to leave the road, it alerts the message through a warning. In the next stage, the RDM guides the electronic steering to move the car back on the road and even applies the brakes to avoid collision.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

The system function is in its name, and it works through the camera mounted on the windshield. The camera will identify the lane lines on the road, and if it feels that the car is diverting from its lane, it will issue a warning, brings back the vehicle to lane, and even apply brakes to avoid any accident.

Lead Car Departure Notification System (LDCN)

The LDCN system alerts the driver when the vehicle ahead in front has moved forward. The radar in the car detects when the vehicle in front starts from standstill traffic. The radar notifies the driver with audio and visual alerts if he/she hasn’t pressed the race pedal.

Auto High-Beam (AHB)

This may be the most significant feature in Honda Sensing for our local roads and drivers. Almost all of us have experienced high beams by most drivers, which causes severe issues in driving and a serious threat of an accident to others on the road. This AHB will start the high beam only when there is no car in front of your Civic, meaning no danger to others. And we think it is need of the hour.

The above features show how much Honda is serious about implementing a collision-free system on the roads. The company has envisioned zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda bikes and cars by 2050, and Honda Sensing will play a major role.

    it is always quite interesting and funny to see how the local assemblers always make it sound like they have introduced something so unique and sensational. Like everyone is asleep, just like them. 😴😪

    Yeah… people have been enjoying the Honda sensing suite of features since at least 2015 or 2016 on their JDM used car imports. The true source of innovation and the true technology driver in the market.

    I wonder how on earth these gizmos are going to work in Pakistan, there are no lane markings for starters while there are no confinements over the edge of the roads. It would be interesting to know how people would put-up with that constant beeping.

    @ That’s another part where Pakistan car market need to progress, it is infractstuctures, driving behaviors.
    That’s why again we cannot get the latest generation of car for some brands or if we get it, we won’t get the same features.

    @Waqas
    I fully agree with you on the driving behaviors part, people do not even know anything about a zebra crossing.

    This technology will come in Pakistan in the year 3000.. so better not day dream about it..

    @Khurram
    I wish to see more Zebra crossing in Pakistan, but i think they are reason why they aren’t a lot.

    @Waqas
    I hope so too but the trouble is that once already found on the main roads are not even attracting attention of pedestrians as well as drivers, people tend to ignore them. I believe that is why the government is not even remarking the old ones because to them its a waste of money to create something which is not even used by the public. Same treatment is meted out to pedestrian bridges, the other day I saw a woman with a child crossing the road beneath it while traffic was whizzing by.

    True , the safty featurs they are adding now is a standard in the world since 2015 and 2016 onwards without any additional cost.
    Un-fortunately, they are charging huge price with a justification that they are adding these features, whereas, high end gadgets from ali express are available in less than Rs. 50k with duty. And these gadgets are having more features as well, but they cannot control car ECUs.
