0 145

In a significant step toward enhancing the safety of its residents, the Islamabad Police has launched the Online Taxi Verification App — a smart solution designed to help citizens verify whether their online taxi is safe to ride before even stepping into the vehicle.

With the rise in online taxi bookings, concerns around passenger security have become more pressing. This app addresses those concerns by allowing users to confirm that the ride they’ve booked is properly registered and vetted by the Islamabad Police.

How the App Works

Using the app is straightforward:

  1. Visit the Islamabad Police official website and download the Taxi Verification App.
  2. Install the app on your smartphone.
  3. When your ride arrives, scan the QR code displayed on the taxi using the app.
  4. The app will immediately verify if the vehicle is registered and safe to use.

This extra layer of verification helps passengers ensure that the taxi and its driver have undergone official background and safety checks.

Why It Matters

This initiative goes beyond convenience — it’s a crucial safety measure. The app was developed in response to several past incidents involving passengers, particularly women, using online taxi services.

Director General (DG) Safe City, Shakir Hussain Dawar, emphasized that the purpose of this app is to ensure the safety of citizens booking online taxis and to establish mutual communication between the police and online taxi services. He further noted that this will ensure that passengers do not face any unpleasant incident, and the police will be aware of the movement of passengers and drivers in all online-booked vehicles.”

DG Dawar also shared that the app’s development considered suggestions from previous cases, public concerns, and the need for accountability among online taxi providers.

Emergency Features & Police Action

In case of emergencies or if a taxi is not verified through the app, users can press the in-app emergency button, which immediately notifies the police for prompt legal action.

“Effective measures taken by police to secure online taxi bookings for the citizens of the federal capital will also help in reducing incidents,” said DG Safe City.

This initiative represents a modern, tech-savvy approach to community policing. By making the Taxi Verification App freely available, Islamabad Police is sending a strong message: safety is a shared responsibility, and technology can help bridge the gap.

Residents, especially women, students, and daily commuters, are encouraged to download the app and verify their ride before traveling. The Islamabad Police Taxi Verification App is more than a tool — it’s a proactive step toward a safer capital. Let’s spread awareness and make smart, informed travel choices.
