Islamabad is stepping up its fight against air pollution, and this time, the focus is on what’s coming out of our tailpipes. After successfully shutting down brick kilns to clean up the air, the city administration is now targeting vehicles that are puffing out excessive smoke.
This new campaign aims to improve air quality and get people thinking about how their vehicles affect the environment. And to get everyone on board, the city is making it easy to comply.
Free Emission Tests
For a limited time, you can get your vehicle’s emissions checked free of charge. The city has set up three designated testing centers where you can get your car or truck inspected until August 31. After that, officials will start handing out hefty fines to vehicles that are visibly spewing smoke.
The free checks are available at:
- Old Parade Ground
- F-9 Park
- The Excise Office
The program, which started on July 15, is open to both private and commercial vehicles, with the exception of those manufactured in 2021 or later. If your vehicle passes the test, you’ll get a barcode sticker for your windscreen to prove it’s compliant.
Many residents are already showing support for this initiative, though some are calling for more testing centers to help cut down on wait times. It’s a great step toward a healthier city, and it’s a chance for all of us to play our part in making Islamabad’s air cleaner.
Pay Traffic Fine Online in KP
In other news from across the country, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is making life a little simpler for drivers. They’ve just launched a new online system that lets you pay your traffic fines without the hassle of long queues.
No more waiting at banks or having to visit a traffic office. This new platform is a big step forward in the province’s move toward digital governance. It’s designed to streamline services, increase transparency, and reduce the potential for corruption.
According to officials, this new system will not only save the public time but also help the government increase revenue and improve overall efficiency. The move is a part of KP’s broader plan to modernize public services and deliver more accessible, user-friendly options for everyone in the province.
This new online payment system is a clear sign that both Islamabad and KP are embracing modern solutions to tackle long-standing challenges, whether it’s cleaning up the environment or making administrative tasks more efficient.
