The SAIC-GM-Wuling Baojun Yep, an all-electric SUV designed for urban areas, is set to be available for purchase in China in the near future. Prior to its official launch, the specifications and price range of the SUV have been disclosed.
Power
The Yep SUV is powered with a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 50 kW (68 hp) and 140 Nm of torque, enabling it to reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Its 28.1 kWh LFP battery provides a driving range of 303 km.
Design language
Coming to stye and design language, this compact electric vehicle, resembles the Suzuki Jimny. It features a two-door design and is 600 mm shorter than its gasoline-powered counterpart. Recently, official interior photos of the Baojun Yep were unveiled, showcasing its conservative cabin space equipped with two 10.25-inch screens, seating for four people, four USB ports, and four speakers.
Specs & Features
The SUV comes with essential features such as LED headlights, dual screens, heated front seats, Auto Hold, a system to manage battery temperature, and a rearview camera.
The top variant of the car comes with additional features enhancing safety with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, front collision warning, blind spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking, a surround-view camera.
Charging
The ability to charge the vehicle using DC power allows for a 35-minute charging time from 30% to 80%, whereas using AC power takes 8.5 hours to charge from 20% to 100%.
Price
The EV is priced competitively, starting from Rs. 3.4 million and going up to Rs. 3.8 million, which puts it in the same price range as the locally assembled Suzuki Cultus.
Given its appealing features and attractive design, the Baojun Yep is expected to be highly sought after among Chinese car buyers.
