After Toyota IMC and Pakistan Suzuki announced production cuts, media reports revealed that KIA Lucky Motors sales charts are flaunting downtrends. As per reports, the KIA’s sales recorded a 61% decline in November despite a “ready deliver offer.” The company sold 290 units in November compared to 460 vehicles in October 2022.
To investigate the reports, we contacted the company. KIA’s officials rubbished the reports narrating the decline in sales.
It is pertinent to mention that KLMC closed its company-operated Shahrah-e-Faisal dealership situated in Karachi. In its official notification, the company informed, “The only reason for the closure of Kia Motors Shahrah-e-Faisal showroom was the expiry of our lease agreement with the landlord which couldn’t be renewed.”
The company has further informed that the customer who booked their cars at the dealership will get them from another company-operated dealership in Lucky One Mall named Kia Motors Lucky One.
Production Cuts
A few days after Indus Motor Company (IMC) announced a temporary shutdown of its production plant, Suzuki Pakistan took the same step. In a notification, Suzuki said that the Restrictions inflicted by the State Bank of Pakistan have had adversely impacted clearance of import consignment, which resultantly affected the inventory levels.
This is not the first time Suzuki is shutting down its plant; the company was forced to take the same steps back in August, September, October, and November 2022. The company observed 15 non-production days in September and October 2022 combined.
