With an aim to digitalize administrative processes in the capital city, the e-Khidmat Markaz at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) has introduced the online driving test service as part of the ongoing digital drive pertaining to driving license initiative.
Collaborating with the Punjab Traffic Police and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the objective is to enhance the effectiveness of driving licenses throughout the province.
The initiation of the driving Test Service at the e-Khidmat Centre ASTP signifies the first step in a broader strategy to expand this service to all e-Khidmat Marakiz across the province. A pivotal meeting session laid the foundation for the seamless integration of the online driving test service into the existing framework.
Building on previous online facilities, the interim government of the Punjab has already simplified the process of acquiring a driving license, allowing the citizens to renew the novice permits from the from the comfort of their homes.
Moreover, The Lahore Traffic Police affirmed that these online conveniences could potentially reduce overcrowding at Facilitation Centres by an impressive 90%.
Driving License Fee Hike
Further embracing digitalization, the provincial authorities recently formalized increased fees for obtaining a driving license. The Lahore Traffic Police shared that individuals can now secure their car and motorcycle learner’s permits for Rs. 500, valid for up to five years.
Online Registration
To facilitate the people, traffic police launched an online service for the people. The groundbreaking decision aims to simplify and streamline the licensing process, considering the surge in the number of people applying for licenses in the region.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi spearheaded the launch of this online facility on a significant Sunday. Citizens can now conveniently apply for their learner’s licenses through the Punjab Police app or at any of the 737 police stations and Khidmat Marakiz scattered across the province.
