The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has finalized plans for a new expressway that will stretch from Arfa Karim Tower to Pine Avenue, Raiwind. The project aims to reduce congestion and offer a smoother alternative route to South Lahore.

According to Chief Engineer LDA, Israr Saeed, the project’s PC-1 has been completed, and the No Objection Certificate (NOC) has been requested. The expressway is estimated to cost more than Rs. 9 billion and will soon be submitted to the Planning and Development Department for approval.

Key highlights of the project include:

  • Three-lane dual carriageway, modeled after the Lahore Orange Line (LOS) corridor.
  • Eco-friendly design focused on minimizing environmental impact.
  • First phase to cover Arfa Karim Tower to Maulana Shaukat Ali Road.

A detailed topographic survey from Arfa Karim Tower to Pine Avenue has already been completed.

Once operational, the new expressway is expected to divert traffic from Kalma Chowk, improving travel efficiency and reducing congestion for millions of commuters across South Lahore.
