0 1,699

Today we present the owner’s review of the Proton Saga R3. This is a limited edition Saga as it is 1 of 100 in the whole country, and only 2000 units were produced globally. The R3 is a sporty version where it gets some extra frills, including a body kit, yellow accents along the interior and exterior, and a few other features. It comes with a 1332 cc engine, which produces 95 hp and 120 nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Purchase Decision

The owner bought this car for his son; previously, he had a Suzuki Cultus, which he sold as it got into an accident. He considered the Kia Picanto initially, as Proton’s showroom was on the same premises; he went there and was very impressed with the Saga R3. Comparing the features and the price, the Saga looked way more worth it, so he opted for it. He bought the car for Rs. 24.5 lacs.

Salient Features

The Proton Saga R3 is well equipped with features that include a multimedia steering which is leather-wrapped, an infotainment screen, an instrument cluster with MID, 2 airbags, ABS brakes, DRLs in the front, parking sensors, traction control, an immobilizer, 15-inch alloy rims, power steering, power windows, etc.

Fuel Average

As per the owner, the car gives 13 km/l within the city with AC, which is impressive considering it has a small engine. The owner has not taken the vehicle outside the city, so he is unaware of the fuel average on the highway.

Missing Features

The owner feels that the car should’ve had retractable mirrors, which he misses. The infotainment system also doesn’t have a navigation system which would’ve been a useful feature.

Maintenance

The owner has got the oil changed once after 5000 kilometers, which cost him around 6,000 rupees which is pretty nominal. Per the owner, Proton’s after-sale service has been very impressive as they replaced a faulty part for free and regularly checked up on the car’s status.

Spare Parts

The spare parts are only available at Proton’s dealership, and some parts may need time as they have to be imported. Prices are normal, and the owner regularly travels outside Pakistan, so his local parts unavailability is not an issue.
