After Kia motors, Proton Pakistan has increased the prices of its locally assembled crossover SUV, Proton X70. In a notification the company said the prices are increased due to changes in duties and taxes structure, hike in sea freight and devaluation of Pakistani rupee against US dollar.
New Proton X70 Price
As per the company, the new prices of two variants of Proton X70 are:
- The new price of Proton X70 Premium FWD is Rs. 5,750,000 compared to Rs. 4,890,000. It means it has seen a jump of Rs. 860,000.
- Meanwhile, Proton X70 Executive AWD will now cost Rs. 5,400,000 instead of Rs. 4,590,000., meaning also an increase of Rs. 810,000.
Regular Production of Proton X70
As per the company, in order to provide some relief to our loyal customers, a special discount of Rs. 100,000 has been given to all existing booking owners as on March 18th, 2022. Hence, they will get FWD in Rs. 5,650,000 and AWD in Rs. 5,300,000, respectively.
The new prices will be implemented from March 21st, 2022.
Proton Pakistan also said that it has started regular production of locally assembled X70 units. As per the company, display units will be dispatched to dealerships by end of next week, while mass production will start from April 2022.
Will the CKD unit be as good as the CBU?
It’s been two months since the company started rolling out the CKD Proton X70 units and we have no idea what the car is offering. Is the locally made CKD unit as good as the imported CBU? How’s the build quality? Are there any features compromised in the local unit? We still don’t know.
Earlier, Proton surprised us by adding five new features in the CKD Saga. Wonder if the company has done something similar with the crossover.
