Master Group to Begin Local Production of Chery Vehicles in January 2026
KARACHI: Chery Master Pakistan held a ceremony at its plant site in the National Industrial Park, Port Qasim, Karachi, to review construction progress and announce the planned start of CKD (Completely Knocked Down) operations in January 2026. This marks a significant development in Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing sector.
Chery Automobile, China’s leading automotive exporter, operates in over 120 countries across Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Russia, and Australia. The company has a global user base of more than 17 million and maintains eight international R&D centers. Chery has been recognized for its quality performance, ranking first among Chinese automotive brands in J.D. Power’s Quality Ratings. Its joint venture with Jaguar Land Rover in China has also contributed to advancing its design and technology capabilities.
Central to Chery’s innovation is its Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology, a next-generation plug-in hybrid system built on a dedicated PHEV platform. The system achieves 98.5% mechanical transmission efficiency and an estimated fuel consumption of 1.3L/100 km when the battery charge exceeds 30%. With a pure electric range of 100–170 km and a total driving range of 1,200–1,400 km, the platform is designed for durability and efficiency. The batteries meet IP68 standards for dust and water resistance and are tested for performance in temperatures ranging from -35°C to +60°C.
In Pakistan, Chery Master plans to introduce four models from the Tiggo lineup — the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9 — for local assembly beginning in January 2026.
Speaking at the ceremony, Samir Malik, CEO of Master Auto Engineering, said,
“Our collaboration with Chery Automobile Ltd. represents an important step toward developing Pakistan’s local automotive production capacity and introducing new energy vehicle technologies to the market.”
The Chery Master manufacturing facility covers over 60 acres, with an investment of approximately USD 150 million. Alongside production readiness, the company is preparing a nationwide dealership network, with 10 dealerships across seven major cities expected to open in 2026. Service and spare parts operations for existing Chery users will begin in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad by the first quarter of 2025.
