Today we’re back with the owner’s review of Mohib Mirza’s 2014 Honda Vezel. Mohib is a renowned TV actor from Karachi, and today he shares his experience of driving this Japanese crossover for over five years. The Vezel Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with an electric motor that pumps out a combined horsepower of 152 and 190 nm of torque. This dual-clutch transmission mates with this engine, delivering power to the front wheels.

Purchase Decision

The owner has always been a Honda fan, and in his opinion, no other local company provides braking and acceleration close to Honda. Upon searching for a new car, it was clear he wanted a Honda, but this time with some extra inches of ground clearance. At that time, there were no such options in the crossover market, and the Vezel proved to be the right fit for him. He bought the car for 3.7 million rupees in 2017.

Salient Features

This being the Vezel’s X variant misses out on some frills compared to the top-spec Z variant. Although, it still has a decent amount of features which include bi-xenon headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, steering controls, cruise controls, a dual-zone climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster, an electric parking brake, retractable mirrors, etc. safety features include 6 airbags, ABS brakes, reverse camera, etc.

Fuel Average

As per the owner, he is not very finicky about calculating the fuel average, but his rough estimate suggests that the Vezel gives more than 14 km/l within the city easily. He has not taken it on the highway; hence he doesn’t know its fuel average on a long stretch.

Dislikes

According to the owner, this car has proved to be a complete package for him over the years, but it has some drawbacks. The major thing he dislikes about it is its suspension. According to him, it is very hard on potholes, and the level of shock absorption is minimal. The stiff ride makes it very uncomfortable to travel on rough roads; thus, the suspension is the only thing he would like to change in his Vezel.

Maintenance

The owner uses fully synthetic oil for the engine, which is changed every 10,000 kilometers. According to him, the cost of periodic maintenance is nearly 10,000 rupees, which is very nominal. A major issue with Vezels in Pakistan is transmission failure, often due to the wrong transmission fluid. Luckily, Mohib has had no problems with it so far.

Spare Parts

Spare parts for Japanese cars are often a challenge in Pakistan, but according to the owner, Vezel’s parts are readily available as they have been present in the country for so many years. The price is high, considering the owner bought a used side mirror for 23,000 rupees.
