Strict Measures Against Over-Speeding

Speaking on the matter, Motorway Police Spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring road safety by taking strict measures against reckless driving. Over-speeding remains one of the leading causes of road accidents, and authorities are determined to implement stringent actions to curb violations and protect travelers.

New Speed Limits on Motorway

Last month, the National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) announced a strict new policy to curb overspeeding on motorways across Pakistan. As per the latest directives, vehicles exceeding 150 km/h will be completely banned from the motorway, with both a fine and an FIR being registered against violators.

According to the official spokesperson of the Motorway Police:

  • The speed limit for cars on three-lane motorways is 120 km/h.
  • For public service vehicles (buses, vans, etc.), the speed limit is 110 km/h.

This initiative is part of a special campaign against high-speed vehicles launched under the directives of IG Motorway Police, Riffat Mukhtar Raja. The campaign aims to enhance road safety and reduce fatal accidents on Pakistan’s highways and motorways.
