Newly-constructed Shahkam chowk Flyover is now open to traffic in a bid to ease traffic mobility. Simply put, the project will help the wheels to get a smooth flow at Link Canal Road, New Defence Road, and Shahkam intersection.

The project worth Rs. 4.233 billion, launched in July 2021, mainly connects Multan Road, Ferozepur Road and New Defence Road at Mohlanwal.

LDA Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Khan said, “The flyover has almost been completed. And now both sides of the flyover have been opened to traffic which will not only ease public mobility but also help us in eliminating environmental issues caused by the constant traffic jams, carbon emissions, etc.”

“For completion of the finishing works, the flyover will not be closed as the remaining work would be done side by side with the continuation of traffic,” he added.

It is pertinent to mention that Chief Minister Punjab, Hamza Shahbaz had directed LDA to complete the requisite development to ensure its inauguration on Eid-ul-Azha.

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) shut down three high voltage transmission lines in order to get the project completed at a high pace with no fear of getting electrocuted.

Earlier, Lesco said a simple no to shutdown the power. Afterwards, the authority released the shutdown schedule and let the engineers and related staff to gear up for the race.
