Official Specs & Features of Local Corolla Cross HEV
After a wait of months rather than years, Toyota Pakistan has finally launched its first locally manufactured hybrid electric CSUV of Pakistan, Corolla Cross. The company unveiled the crossover during an event in Karachi last week, and today, it released the official specs and features, price, and images of the vehicle. It is pertinent to mention that the car is launched in two variants, and here are the salient options of the new offering by Toyota Pakistan.

Importantly, these are salient options in the first locally manufactured hybrid electric CSUV of Pakistan by Toyota, and the detailed specs and features will be revealed next week with the official launch of the vehicle. Toyota was among the first companies to announce a local hybrid car in Pakistan and invested $100 million in the plant and production. During a meeting, the company even showed the vehicle to former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who appreciated the company’s effort.
The new Corolla Cross would be a breath of fresh air for the company and may kickstart a new era of sales. It would also suit the local car industry, which has been facing challenging circumstances for the last couple of years. Hopefully, the new Corolla Cross will be a massive success for Toyota Pakistan.
What do you think about the new Corolla Cross? Would you buy it? Please tell us in the comments section.
“…Toyota Pakistan has finally launched its first locally manufactured hybrid electric CSUV of Pakistan.”
How is the company calculating/claiming it as the “First”?
If the Haval H6 PHEV is the first SUV and the Hyundai Santa Fe is the first 7 seater hybrid SUV, fine Toyota can say this is the “first Crossover Hybrid”. However, doesn’t that actually make the Cross the THIRD hybrid launched in Pakistan? Also, when did the local manufacturing start? I thought this was locally assembled?
All the features this has, other SUVs on the market have had them long before this. However, they have been called (intrusive) nanny features by the Pakwheels review team many times in the reviews of those other SUVs. Can we consider them nanny features here as well? Or are they “game changing” on this particular CSUV; as alluded to by other write-ups on Pakwheels?
This comes with a moon roof. So its a system just like the Daihatsu Taft where there is only a glass piece inserted into the roof which cannot be opened. So that means it is not a true (opening) (panoramic) glass roof?
Toyota has made sure that people don’t forget the 100 million dollars they have spent to bring this hybrid assembly to Pakistan. And rightly so. That is a lot of money. But why didn’t they follow Changan’s example and bring the latest version of this SUV to Pakistan? After spending so much, I believe they should have started with the new facelift of the cross rather than bringing the older pre-facelift version (as these companies always seem to do). This breath of fresh air seems stale at best. If the new facelift was introduced, this local company could have been looking at a potential candidate for export. This could have solved a lot of cash flow problems for them by finally doing something that brought in cash to the country rather then just spending it abroad. Seems like a waste.
The cross comes in two engine variants in other markets. 1.8L hybrid and 2.0L hybrid. I have checked again and again and the combined output of the 2.0L hybrid system is rated at 196HP. The combined output of this 1.8L system is rated at 120HP. The 1.8L engine by itself produces 96HP.
The Haval H6 PHEV produces a combined output that is twice that of the 1.8L hybrid Cross. However, I’m sure that is on purpose. The cross will be very good on fuel (having such low power output).

Haval H6 HEV = 11,866,500PKR compared to Toyota Corolla cross price is 9 849 000 PKR for the high trim
I totally forgot about haval, but since you remind it now clearly Haval isn’t worth to buy, Toyota come with a cheaper price, a proven reliability….
Toyota corolla cross = 9 849 000 PKR for the high trim, haval H6 HEV = 11 866 500 PKR
Toyota better price, more reliability, durability …
@Waqas
Excellent tunnel vision my friend!
