LAHORE — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a high-level meeting to review progress across eight key departments and issued fresh directives to accelerate development initiatives in the province.

She instructed that 1,115 electric buses be made operational across Punjab by December and directed Deputy Commissioners to expedite the installation of charging stations.

The chief minister also approved a uniform design for bus stops, citing the growing public interest in electric transport, and cleared a district-wise rollout plan for the bus service. She urged early work on the Super Autonomous Rapid Transit (SRT) project to enhance urban mobility.

Reviewing the Housing and Urban Development Department, Maryam Nawaz noted that WASA had expanded from five to 19 cities within months and reaffirmed the target of reaching 25 districts by year’s end.

Over 5,000 water filtration plants are currently operational across Punjab. She tasked Housing Minister Bilal Yasin with personally inspecting the facilities, linking them to Deputy Commissioners’ KPIs, and ensuring clean bottled water reaches every household.

Officials briefed her that the Model Village Project has begun in 472 villages, featuring parks, paved roads, drainage systems, and better sanitation. Maryam Nawaz also ordered the formal launch of the Placer Gold Project for the benefit of the people.
