After a decrease of 85% in April, car sales performed slightly better last month. As per Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) car sales observed a month-on-month (MoM) jump of 19% selling 5,290 vehicles in May against 4,463 units sold in April.
Coming to year-on-year (YoY), sales recorded a staggering low of 77%. Car makers sold 22,893 vehicles in the corresponding period of last year.
Company-Wise Sales Breakdown
Toyota Indus Motors (INDU) reported a down of 12% in its sales. The car maker sold 1,718 units in May against 1,948 units in April. (MoM decline: 12%)
Highlighting Honda Atlas car sales, the company posted a low of 58%, selling 87 units last month against 207 units in April’23. (MoM decline: 58%)
Meanwhile, Pak Suzuki Motors Company’s sales witnessed a new high of 101% in May, selling 2,958 cars against 1,474 cars in April. (MoM growth: 101%)
Hyundai Nishat sales decreased by 31%, selling 503 units last month compared to 725 units in April. (MoM decline: 31%)
It is related to mention that all other car companies, Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton, are not PAMA members. Their sales numbers are not included in the report.
Car-Wise Sales Breakdown
Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company sold 1,902 units of Alto, 282 units of Suzuki Cultus, 148 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 332 units of Suzuki Swift, 157 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 137 units of Suzuki Ravi.
Toyota Indus sold 853 units of Corolla and Yaris and 865 units of Fortuner and Hilux.
Honda Atlas sold 56 unit of City and Civic and 31 units of BR-V and HR-V.
Hyundai Nishat sold 69 units of Elantra, 135 units of Sonata, 105 units of Porter, and 194 units of Tucson.
