The Government of Pakistan has announced the revised petroleum prices for the upcoming fortnight starting from June 1, 2025. According to the official press release issued by the Finance Division, the decision was made based on the recommendations of OGRA and relevant ministries.

The latest revision shows a marginal increase in petrol prices, while the rate of high-speed diesel remains unchanged.

Revised Fuel Prices (Effective from June 1, 2025)

Product Old Price (16 May 2025) New Price (01 June 2025) Change
Petrol (MS) PKR 252.63 PKR 253.63 PKR +1
High-Speed Diesel PKR 254.64 PKR 254.64 No Change

Impact on Consumers and the Auto Sector

While a Rs. 1 per litre increase in petrol may seem minimal, it adds further pressure on the already stretched budgets of vehicle owners, especially daily commuters and ride-sharing drivers. The unchanged price of high-speed diesel offers some relief, particularly for commercial transport and logistics operators who heavily depend on diesel-powered vehicles.

As global oil prices remain volatile, local adjustments like these are a reflection of both international trends and domestic fiscal strategies, including taxation and currency exchange factors.

What’s Next?

With the budget for FY 2025–26 around the corner, industry experts anticipate further adjustments in petroleum levy, carbon taxes, and potentially more pricing reforms. Consumers are advised to monitor fuel usage and explore fuel-efficient alternatives, especially as electric vehicle adoption slowly grows in the Pakistani market.
