Petrol Prices – January 2021 Vs. December 2021

As the year is ending, we thought to bring the price comparison of petrol prices between January 2021 and December 2021. We will give you a brief overview of prices of petrol, High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Kerosene Oil and Light-Speed Diesel (LDO) during this year.

In 2021, the world was coming out of COVID-19 as business and trade activities restarted across the world. This caused demand increase in petroleum goods which led to high prices. The rates even went to record-high in international market around $83 per barrel during this year. This means the prices in Pakistan also went higher with every month.

The masses felt the burden further due to government’s policy of revising the prices after every 15 days. The previous government used to do it after a month.

Petrol Prices from Jan’21 to Dec’21

If we look at the prices, the petrol was Rs106 at start of the year, while the current price is Rs140.82, means the price has increased by Rs34.82. Meanwhile, the HSD has seen a jump of Rs27.38 in this year from Rs110.24 to Rs137.62. If we talk about Kerosene Oil, it stood at Rs73.65 on January 1, 2021, while on December 16, it is Rs109.63, meaning the price is increased by Rs35.98.

Lastly, the price of LDO has been hiked by Rs35.25 in 2021, jumping from Rs71.81 to Rs107.06. And for our readers, here is a brief chart of the prices of all petroleum goods throughout this year.

As you have noticed the prices have come down up to Rs7 today and we hope that this downward trend continues. We hope that the prices in both international and local markets further comedown. The lower prices mean that the inflation might also come down and lead to relief for the citizens of Pakistan.
