The fares of public transport between Lahore and other cities of Punjab. The All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Federation (APPTOF) has announced a reduction of 10 percent in overall fares.
The All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Federation (APPTOF) stated that they have reduced the fare between Lahore and Sadiqabad by Rs. 200. Moreover, fares for public transport running between Lahore and Multan and Lahore and Rawalpindi have been reduced by Rs. 100. Meanwhile, the fares for transport between Lahore and Faisalabad are cut by Rs. 50.
The reason behind this relaxation is the price reduction of diesel and petroleum products. This drop might be temporary as the government plans to impose another tax on petroleum products in the near future. This price hike will again lead to an increase in public transport fares.
Note that the government passed an amendment in the Petroleum Levy Ordinance 1961 last month, which enabled it to gradually levy taxes on all petroleum products, including high-speed diesel, light diesel oil, motor gasoline, superior gasoline, and high octane blending components, and E-10 gasoline.
