Current economic doom and a gain observed in fuel prices have propelled even public transporters to bring their final verdict before the government.

Public transporters across the country have called for a nationwide strike from August 2 in the face of burgeoning fuel prices and toll tax. During a Press Conference in Quetta, Pakistan Public Transport Election Committee (PPTEC) announced the strike.

What did They demand?

Committee’s representative, Haji Saeed Jan asked the government to fulfill their demands before August 2  or be ready to face the consequences. He criticized the unjust act of increasing income and token tax on vehicles. Demands not only include the reduction in diesel price but they also requested to abolish the new toll plazas and resuscitate the previous rates.

Operation Against Public Transport

Where increasing fuel prices affected the commuters, transporters embarked on overcharging the passengers. Authorities took stern action and placed police teams on the bus terminals to curb the problem. Meanwhile, National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) also took charge to oversee the situation.
