Lahore — The Punjab government has announced that from November 15, any vehicle without a green emission sticker will be banned from the roads. The move, led by the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), aims to curb air pollution ahead of the smog season. As per media.
According to EPA Director General Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, only vehicles that pass the Exhaust Testing System (ETS) and meet emission standards will get a green sticker. Cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles without one will face fines or impoundment.
Vehicles less than three years old are exempt for now, while older ones must undergo testing at EPA’s certified booths across the province.
The measure comes as air quality in Lahore and other Punjab cities continues to worsen each smog season, with vehicular emissions among the top contributors to particulate pollution.
The EPA says this crackdown is part of a broader plan to tackle rising smog levels, with strict enforcement teams already being deployed in Lahore and other major cities.
