The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a strict crackdown on vehicles without green stickers, announced Imran Hamid Sheikh, Director General of the EPA.

In the first phase, warning slips are being issued to vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2015. According to department spokesperson Sajid Bashir, these warning slips are being dispatched along with e-challans via post.

He further stated that after the second warning slip, fines and legal action will follow. Urban areas are witnessing strict checks on emissions from petrol and diesel vehicles. To date, more than 350,000 vehicles have been issued green stickers after passing the emissions test.

“Repeated violations can lead to heavy fines and even vehicle impoundment,” the spokesperson warned. Only vehicles that clear the emission test are granted green stickers. During the testing process, the engine, silencer, and catalytic converter are thoroughly examined.

As the smog season approaches, authorities have made it clear that vehicles without green stickers will not be permitted to enter Lahore. “No vehicle without a green sticker will be permitted on the city’s roads,” said the spokesperson.

Citizens have been urged to get their vehicles tested at nearby booths without delay. The department also confirmed that a fee for obtaining the green sticker will be announced soon.
