Currently, there are no updates regarding the routes of this bus. However, the provincial officials have told media that transportation department will finalize the routes once trial runs are completed. The foundation of this mega project was laid last year by then Sindh Transport Minister Syed Owais Shah.
Electric Buses in Islamabad
Last month, we reported that Capital Development Authority was geared up to launch electric public transport buses in Islamabad. As per CDA officials, electric buses would operate on six different public transport routes. The department will also provide space for charging stations. CDA will construct three base stations for these electric buses.
CDA also announced to issue the tender for bus consultancy on October 12. The first batch of e-buses is expected to reach Islamabad by the end of December. The authority has already started testing these electric buses in twin cities. It is pertinent to mention that the launch of electric buses has been in the department’s plans for a long time.
Route Plan
Capital Development Authority is all set to operate 13 new bus routes in two phases. CDA chairman, Capt. (Retd.) Usman Younis stated that the first phase would take place with e-transport on the six busy routes. Whilst, in the second phase, the authority will acquire buses for seven other routes, he added.\
I hope those electric bus were bought from Turkish company Karsan and not chinese.
Hybrid bus would be better since electric bus requiring charging, but some people learn only by experiencing.
