Though not 1400cc, 25% GST on Peugeot 2008 & Stonic

Today’s hot news is that the government has imposed a flat 25% GST on locally assembled 1400cc and above cars. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued a new sales tax notification under SRO 297(1)/2023 confirming this new tax today. But, some vehicles that are not 1400cc cars are also facing this tax application. Let’s see which cars these are.

General Sales Tax On Cars

This tax slab includes all locally assembled 1400cc and above cars, locally manufactured or assembled SUVs and CUVs, and locally manufactured/assembled double cabin (4×4) pickup vehicles.

Even though these cars are not included in the 1400cc category, they will still be slapped with this tax, and their prices will be hiked!

Tax on Toyota Revo

All variants of Toyota Revo will be taxed with the new GST, and their new prices will be higher. According to our estimate, the new prices with the 25% GST are expected to be as follows.
REVO G Auto 2.8 is expected to have a new price of Rs. 12,424,000.
REVO V Auto 2.8 is expected to have a new price of Rs. 13,738,000.
According to our calculations, REVO G 2.8 M/T may now cost Rs. 11,847,000.
Similarly, Hilux E is also a variant of the Toyota Revo and may now cost Rs. 10,928,000.
Lastly, the new price of Revo Rocco is expected to be Rs14,486,000.

Tax on Peugeot 2008

Sadly, for the fans of Peugeot 2008, this vehicle will now also be taxed according to the FBR. As per our estimates, the new price of Peugeot 2008 Active may be Rs. Rs6,833,000. On the other hand, its other variant, Peugeot 2008 Allure, may soon cost Rs. Rs7,574,000.

Tax on KIA Stonic

Another beloved car that took the hit with this news is KIA Stonic. Both of its variants will now cost a lot more due to the new tax imposition.
KIA Stonic EX may now cost a whopping Rs. 5,191,000, whereas its sister variant, the KIA Stonic EX+, may now have a price tag of Rs. 5,720,000.
