Once electric and hybrid cars used to have a bland design philosophy with old-school styling and uninteresting tech features. Later, a few manufacturers changed the game by bringing into some of the modern styled cars. Among which BMW i8 was a prominent name. Launched in 2014, it was an eco-conscious vehicle often referred to as a supercar. What stood out about the i8 was its incredibly head-turning looks.
Striking Exterior Details
Even today it looks ahead of time with butterfly doors, character lines, and most sedative lips. It was offered in a variety of colors, including “Sophisto Grey,” “Ionic Silver,” “Crystal White Pearl Effect,” and “Protonic Blue,” where some of the rarest ones were, ‘Frozen Yellow’, ‘Protonic Red’, and ‘Java Green’ which gave the i8 a sporty vibe. Noman went ahead with styling, choosing a “Barbie Pink” wrap with a “Piano Black.” Otherwise, it is a bone stock plug-in hybrid with 20-inch wheels and a sporty aura.
Halo Interior
Since this one was a “Halo-Line Trim,” the accents, seat belts, and interior lighting were in blue, also indication the its hybrid nature. It comes with other features like a parking sensor, traction control, modes of ECO Pro, Sports Mode, and E-Drive. Another exciting option is its gear knob for infotainment controls. Heated seats and pedal shifters, cruise control, and an imperial audio system were a few other options.
Quick Performance
Noman was driving a Corvette when he decided to drive his friend’s BMW i8 and its striking power compelled him to make this transition. Its engine comes from the 1.5 litre 3-cylinder MINI Cooper. Although it was further modified to deliver a power of 234 hp, where the electric motor boosts another 143 hp, and its 0-60 mph goes in 4.4 seconds only.
But the current one comes factory-tuned with an aftermarket FI exhaust system, which takes its power to another level, producing 400 plus hp. Also, its exhaust sound is a treat to hear.
Although there were a number of interesting features of this BMW i8, what we liked the most was its Barbie pink wrap. No doubt, this color needs an audacious mood.
