Welcome to another episode of PakWheels Owner’s Review series featuring the locally assembled Proton Saga. Many of you have been asking for this review, and here it is. The biggest question we all had about the locally assembled Saga was, ‘Is it as good as the imported model?’ Let’s hear the answer from its owner.

Purchase & Price

The owner wanted to buy a brand-new automatic sedan (aka diggi wali gari) for Rs. 25 lacs, and Proton Saga was the only option. He checked the car out and liked everything about it, looks, power, features, etc. So, he went ahead and booked the car.

Fuel Average

People often complain about Saga’s bad fuel average. But this owner says his car does 12 kilometres per litre mileage in the city and around 18 km/L on the highway, which is pretty impressive.

Drive

Proton Saga has a smooth and comfortable drive. The car is very planted on the road and has great road grip. Suspension is also great. The owner says he has driven it on the roughest roads and had no problems with the suspension.

Cabin noise of locally assembled Proton Saga Ace is much better than the imported model. That’s because the company has added front and rear NVH Guard in the CKD model to enhance quietness and comfort of the cabin.

Features

For an A-segment sedan, this car is loaded with features, such as front and rear parking sensors, two airbags, hydraulic power steering with multimedia controls, keyless entry, remote trunk, reverse camera, alloy wheels, floating touchscreen, ABS + EBD, brake assist, hill assist, electronic stability control, and traction control.

Maintenance

The owner gets his car maintained from Proton dealerships every 5,000 kilometres, and the oil plus filter change service costs him Rs. 6,850. That’s pretty fair, not too cheap, not too expensive.

Spare Parts

Spare parts of Proton Saga are readily available at Proton dealerships, but they cost a lot. That’s why the owner got his car insured as soon as he bought it. That way, the insurance company will cover all the damages and spare part costs, so he can drive his car with peace of mind.

Resale

Proton Saga will have a slow resale whenever the owner decides to sell it. But the car won’t lose its value (if not earn him profit).

Final Words on Proton Saga Ace

In the words of the owner — “Proton Saga Ace is a wonderful car. Alhamdulillah, I am very happy with it. No issues and no complaints so far.”
