A cargo ship named ‘Felicity Ace’ has drowned in the Atlantic Ocean. The ship was carrying 4,000 luxury cars, including Porsches, Bentleys, and Lamborghinis worth Rs. 27billion ($155million). According to media reports, the ship sunk when rescue team was towing it to shore.

As per Bentley company, their 189 new cars were on the ship, while there were 1100 Porsches on it. The cars were transported to America from Germany, where they were supposed to be handed over to the consumers. However, the ship drowned after a fire broke out.

A Good News

There is a good news for the buyers of these cars as all vehicles were insured. As per a report by an international media agency, Reuters, Volkswagen has confirmed that the insurance amount of their vehicles is 116 million pounds. Meanwhile, one buyer told the media that he has already re-ordered his car.

How Ship Sunk?

A fire broke out in the ship on February 16th, and all of its staff was rescued with the help of lifeboats. However, the authorities remained unable to save the cargo ship. As per reports, it is currently at a depth of 3500 meters in the ocean.

There are no reports of oil leaks from the ship yet, but authorities are keeping a close eye on it.

The international automobile market is already phasing through a tough time due to COVID-19 and the shortage of semiconductors chips. Due to the shortage, the delivery of cars has been delayed by months worldwide. And this incident will further pressure the carmakers.

Hopefully, the situation will get better in near future as the world is opening after the pandemic, but it will take time.

I think authorities should concern themselves with investigating as to how this fire broke out in the first place.

    Oh my God!
This is a two weeks old news, and you missed the most important part of this news, the fire is due to the batteries of electrics cars.

    @ Waqas
Thanks brother, I hope that the destruction of batteries hasn’t caused unimaginable damage to life below water. On the other hand, it just proves how actually dangerous electric vehicles are, one must laud the far sight of companies likes V.W. and Toyota who still along with Mazda, Subaru, Yamaha and others are trying their best to make I.C.E. cars better.
