Just about two months after Atlas Honda Pakistan unveiled its all-new CB 125F, the company has introduced an upgraded version of everyone’s favourite CG 125, named as Honda CG 125S- Special Edition.

The launch of the upgraded version of the all-famous motorbike has quite a lot to do in competing with its rival Yamaha YB 125Z. The story has a much clear view when you see the types of up gradations introduced by Atlas Honda in their most famous motorbike. As its name suggests, the addition of ‘’S in CG125 points towards the self-start feature included by the automotive manufacturer. The other significant change is brought into the transmission as it features a 5-speed constant mesh transmission now. Note here that its competitor YB 125Z already has these two features so Altas Honda has made an attempt to catch up in its rivalry with Yamaha. Moreover, the manufacturer has introduced CG 125S in 4 more exciting looking units including a special edition variant with the same options but different graphics available in 2 colours. The sticker on the fuel tank gets an entirely new eye-catching graphics style with side guards painted silver in colour. That’s all, to sum up, the upgraded CG 125S.

Unlike its competitor YB 125Z which comes with an overhead camshaft engine, Atlas Honda has kept the same 4-stroke air cooled Overhead Valve (OHV) engine that produces an immense amount of initial torque; a trademark of CG125. Under the same OHV engine, the conventional vibrations in the motorbike would not go anywhere else; however, the CG125 enthusiasts would certainly enjoy the same unit with additional gear. Honda CG125 like everyone knows is famous for its power and from a consumer point of view, apart from an additional 5th gear nothing has changed that could affect its power. Perhaps you will have the luxury of a self-starting option especially for those who find it hard to kick-start the motorbike. The dense traffic across most parts of the country also favour a motorbike with the self-starting option. In terms of suspension, YB 125Z has drum brakes at both front and rear while CG125S operates with drum brakes at front and rear. Another aspect common in both motorbikes is the front and rear spoke wheel. CG125S has a fuel tank with a capacity of 9.2 litres whereas YB 125Z can store 13.0 litres. Both power-packed motorbikes have a halogen bulb front headlight. YB 125Z is available in red, black and blue colour. Honda CG 125S has a dry weight of 108kg whereas YB 125Z weighs 107 kg. The bore and stroke value of CG 125S is 56.5 and 49.5 respectively. On the other hand, YB 125Z has the same bore and stroke of 54.

There’s probably one thing that separates the two motorbikes as for now; it’s the OHV engine in CG125S as compared to OHC engine in YB 125Z. However, it’s interesting to see the price of the newly introduced upgraded CG 125S. As we now know that the company has unveiled a special edition of the motorbike alongside the regular edition, the distribution of price (ex-showroom) is as follows:

• Honda CG 125S PKR 134,900/-
• Honda CG 125S Special Edition PKR 136,500/-

It’s worthy to mention here that the previous version of Honda CG 125 was priced at PKR 115,900. Therefore, with the addition of a self-start and 5-speed transmission, the customers will now have to pay nearly 20,000 more to get their hands on the new motorbike. On the other hand, its competitor Yamaha YB 125Z is currently priced at PKR 123,500 which is much less than the new price tag of CG 125S under almost the same set of specifications and features. CG 125S would have been a better-off choice at nearly the same price of YB 125Z.
