Toyota Pakistan has started a new and fun series to bring awareness regarding road safety practices. This series features Pakistani kids answering some questions regarding road safety practices based on what they have learned from the adults around them.
The series has, by far, 11 episodes, and each episode covers one question regarding driving practices. The video starts with the sentence, “Kids learn from the backseats”. A couple of seconds later, Toyota Mascot, a colorfully dressed kid named THUMS, introduces himself. He starts every video by saying, “I’m THUMS, your safety buddy. And I’m here to teach you a thing or two about safety so you can be a better driver and keep everyone around you safe and sound!” THUMS jumps up to pose for a picture with a family of five people showing kids of different ages.
The video then proceeds to introduce the topic of the video and the number of the episode. Then THUMS starts to talk in Urdu, saying, “Aj hum interview lein gay kuch school k bachon ka jo gaari ki pichli seaton per baith kr anokhi anokhi baaten seekhtay hain.” which translates to “Today, we will interview some school kids who learn interesting things while sitting in the car’s backseat.”
After this, a man behind the camera proceeds to ask a question from the kids, who all reply individually while sitting in a Toyota backseat, wearing their seatbelts.
In episode 11, the title of the video is “Importance of Helmet,” and the question asked is “Kia bike chalatay huay helmet pehn’ni chahiye?” / “Should we wear a helmet while riding a bike?” The kids then proceed to expose their fathers for not wearing helmets while riding bikes. Most of them state that their fathers hang the helmet on the bike’s handle instead of wearing it. Others say that their fathers only wear it for long rides and not for going somewhere nearby.
The video always ends with THUMS stating that kids learn from their adults while they sit in the backseats of cars. These videos not only focus on educating people regarding road safety practices but also shows how children observe the adults around them and copy what they are doing.
This is your reminder to never forget to wear your helmet when riding a bike. Check out the 11th episode of Road Safety to find out why.#ToyotaPakistan #RoadSafety #MoveYourWorld pic.twitter.com/SyAxEgT2su

Interesting, a very good initiative, not only it is a testament to Toyota’s work toward kids’ better future, but it is also an eyeopener to adults, who are always quick at lambasting kids for misbehaving but themselves failing to even set a good example.
My regards and prayers for success of this program, because we needed someone to make the Pakistani public see their gross actions and with large imprint, the message is bound to leave some positive affect.
