Honda Launches First Electric Motorcycle “WN7”
Honda has introduced its first electric motorcycle, the Honda WN7, in Europe. The move supports Honda’s plan for carbon-neutral motorcycles by the 2040s.
A Fun-Focused Design
The WN7 is Honda’s first fixed-battery electric naked model, designed for what the company calls the “Fun segment.” It is the production version of the EV Fun Concept that was showcased at EICMA 2024 in Milan.
The model name reflects its concept:
- W stands for “Be the Wind” (development theme)
- N stands for “Naked”
- 7 indicates the output class
Key Features
According to Honda, the WN7 combines over 75 years of motorcycle development with modern EV technology. Highlights include:
- Range: Over 130 km per charge
- Battery: Fixed lithium-ion, CCS2 fast charging (20% to 80% in ~30 minutes)
- Home charging: Full charge in under 3 hours
- Performance: Comparable to 600cc ICE models in output and 1000cc models in torque
- Design: Slim, futuristic EV styling
- Technology: 5-inch TFT screen with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity
Looking Ahead
Honda plans to expand its electric lineup globally, offering options for both commuters and enthusiasts. The WN7 marks the beginning of what the company calls a “full lineup of electric motorcycles” to meet diverse customer needs.
