After Civic-City, Honda Shares Combined Sales of HR-V & BR-V
Back in 2014, Honda Atlas took a rather surprising step by sharing the combined sales number of the Honda Civic and Honda City in the monthly report of the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). Apparently, the reason behind it was the lower sales of both sedans in previous years. Although both cars belonged to different categories, i.e., Honda City is from B-segment, while the Civic is from C-segment. Still, the company decided to go for the combined sales.
Following suit, Indus Motor Company (IMC) also started to share the sales number in one column. Just like the Civic and City, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris belonged to two different segments, and no doubt this practice is just weird. Then, the company also started sharing the merged sales and production numbers of Fortuner and IMVs. If the sales number of these cars has declined, the companies must share them openly so that consumers can know the actual numbers. But this practice has become quite popular among car assemblers, especially the Big 3.
Combined Sales of Honda HR-V and BR-V
And this month, Honda Atlas has shared the sales numbers of the Honda HR-V and Honda BR-V as one. It is pertinent to mention that HR-V was launched just last month, and the company has claimed that all the booking slots have been booked till July 2023. It means that sales are quite high, but still, its numbers have been merged with the BR-V.
As per the PAMA report, Honda sold only 54 units of HR-V and BR-V, less than 79 units last month, when HR-V was not even launched. So, a drop in sales for the new car even in its first month. Not a good start for the new crossover SUV.
What do you think about Honda combining sales of the Honda HR-V and BR-V? Is it the right approach? Please share your thoughts in the comments section.
