Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has made a huge announcement for the daily commuters. During his budget speech in AJK assembly, he said that government will  launch a bullet train from Muzaffarabad to Islamabad.

“A bullet train between these two cities will be started,” he said. However, he did not reveal further details about this mega project in his speech. If launched, the train will reduce the travel between these two cities significantly. People would be able to reach their destinations in a matter of very few hours.

But, as mentioned earlier, there no details of this project, how it will work, who will sponsor it and when it will start and complete. So, hope for the best and we wish that this project will become reality from the papers.

Previous Such Plans

And this is not first such project announced, if you remember, the government announced an electric train from Islamabad to Murree in 2020. Then Federal Minister for Science Fawad Chaudhry said in a tweet that electric train from Islamabad airport to Murree is on the cards. “We have started a study on the project and also had a meeting with planning ministry over it,” he said.

Chaudhry further stated that this project would change the whole landscape of travelling and tourism. The announcement is a series of policies by the government to promote electric vehicles in the country.

However, the project never say the light of the day and remained a mere announcement. The announcements of such mega projects have proved to be more of a political gimmick, however, we do hope that this time, this project of Azad Kashmir will become a reality.

What do you think about this announcement by Azad Kashmir prime minister? Do you think this project will start? Please share your thoughts in the comments section.
