Bike Sales Slump Persists Despite Suzuki’s Recovery
Bike sales in July 2023 in Pakistan continue to follow a downward trend, primarily attributed to the economic challenges faced by the country
As per the data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (PAMA), the total number of bike sales in July reached 73,588 units, marking an 11% decrease compared to the preceding month. Within this context, Atlas Honda witnessed a decline of 17% in their sales, with a total of 62,012 bikes sold during the same period.
Pak Suzuki experienced a notable shift, managing to sell 957 motorcycles in July, which reflects a significant increase of 164% as compared to the figures from June 2023. On the other hand, Yamaha encountered a downturn with a decrease of 28% in sales, selling 675 motorcycles in July compared to the previous month. The sales of Chinese motorcycles experienced a substantial drop of up to 80% when compared to the sales numbers in June.
While PAMA did not explicitly state the reasons behind the sales decline, research firms’ analyses indicate that import restrictions and resultant production interruptions are probable contributors to the challenges faced by bike manufacturers.
Mind you, motorcycle industry is not the only one facing this backlash, car sector is also in the same state. As per the PAMA report, car sales are decreased by 16% (MoM) last month.
Car Sales Faces Same
