Breath Testing Starts in Lahore to Stop Drunk Driving
There is a famous quote, don’t drink and drive because it can lead to serious damage, both life and material. To counter drunk driving, traffic police worldwide use breathalyzers; in this brief breath-testing, the culprit can be caught on the spot. Lahore City Traffic has now caught up with global practices and started using breath testing on the city’s major roads.
Test Against Drunk Driving in Lahore
The media reports stated that the police have installed speed guns and started using breathalyzers to catch drunk drivers. “Driving under the influence leads to overspeeding and accidents,” Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Dr. Assad Malhi, told the media. The officer further said.
The police will conduct the test on the spot through a digital alcohol tester. If caught, legal proceedings against the driver will be initiated under Motor Vehicle Ordinance. The culprit could face up to 6 months of jail time along with the fine.

The latest step by the traffic police is commendable as it will stop overspeeding and reduce the chances of accidents. In the last few months, the police have launched a number of initiatives to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety on the road. These projects include drone traffic monitoring, heavy fines for one-way violations and without helmet bike rides, and the issuance of digital challans. And this new one will play a significant role in making things better on the roads of Lahore.
