How Car Prices Went Too Far in Just One Year

Like bikes, the car prices have seen an upward trajectory during the year of 2021. Although, federal government reduced the Federal Excise Duty (FED) and General Sales Tax (GST) on all vehicles under new Auto Policy, still the prices were jacked up once again during last month.

The reasons for increase in car prices are multiple, including fluctuating US dollar rate, COVID-19 restrictions, increased shipment costs, expensive materials and increased freight charges. Like the rest of the world, the pandemic has hit the local auto industry hard.

As the year is ending, we decided to bring the price comparison between January 2021 and December 2021 to see how much the prices have gone up.

Honda Atlas Car Prices – Jan’21 Vs. Dec’21

The first company we are going to discuss is Honda Atlas. We will discuss the old and new prices of Honda Civic, Honda City and Honda BR-V. It is pertinent to mention that Honda launched the new generation of City this year and changed the models. Henceforth, we are not mentioning the price of previous generation of Honda City.

Then comes, Toyota’s most popular sedan of the year, Toyota Yaris. The compact sedan has defeated its arch rivals Honda City and Honda Civic in the sales throughout the year. So, here are the price of this car from start to the end of this year.

The cars by Pak Suzuki are among the most sold ones in Pakistan. The major reason is their affordability of these hatchbacks. The price difference shows that the company has increased the rates of these cars up to Rs142,000.

Hyundai Nishat Car Prices – Jan’21 Vs. Dec’21

The Hyundai Nishat is one of the new entrants in the local market. The company has introduced crossover SUV, compact sedan and a luxury sedan in Pakistan. As per the numbers, the company has increased the prices up to Rs200,000. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the price of Hyundai Elantra has decreased by Rs50,000.

KIA Lucky Motors Car Prices – Jan’21 Vs. Dec’21

As per the difference, the company has increased the price of Saga by Rs174,000, while the rate of X70 has been decreased by Rs100,000 during this year.
