Car Sales Up By 5% in Feb’22
Last month was bitter-sweet for the automotive industry. Toyota and Honda lost their car sales, whereas Suzuki and Hyundai scored big numbers. The overall car sales growth was thanks to Suzuki’s all-time best-seller Alto and Hyundai’s first-time best seller Tucson.
The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has posted the monthly car sales for February 2022. As per the PAMA report, the auto industry sold a total of 21,664 cars in February. Compared to the 20,610 sales of January, there is a month-on-month growth of 5%.
Company-Wise Sales Breakdown
Toyota Indus lost the sales of all its cars, with a total of 4,630 units sold in February. (MoM decline: 32%)
Honda Atlas car sales also went on a downward spiral, with 2,747 units sold in February. (MoM decline: 32%)
Pak Suzuki had the best sales month with 12,668 car units in February. (MoM growth: 40%)
Hyundai Nishat sold 1,469 units in February, that’s more than double the sales in January. (MoM growth: 140%)
Sazgar BAIC, who recently joined PAMA, sold 42 units of BAIC BJ40 in February. (MoM growth: 282%)
All other car companies, Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton, are not PAMA members. Their sales numbers are not included in the report.
Car-Wise Sales Breakdown
Suzuki’s best-seller Alto made a comeback with 7,175 sales in February. The company sold 1,692 units of Cultus, 1,646 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 1,070 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 1,085 units of Suzuki Ravi.
Toyota Indus sold 3,646 units of Corolla and Yaris and 984 units of Fortuner and Hilux.
Honda Atlas sold 2,286 units of Civic and City and 461 units of BR-V.
Hyundai Nishat sold 312 units of Elantra, 226 units of Sonata, 157 units of Porter, and 774 units of Tucson.

That’s an impressive increase in the sales of Hyundai and Suzuki on the other hand, that’s the fourth month in a row that Toyota Yaris’s sales have dipped even more, the reason is unjustified price increase of five months ago when reports relating to high profit were circulating on social media. Moreover that front looking bumper is really abominable, rather like a bushy mustache.
