Civic Ferio Converted into Civic VI RS – A Review
Increasing car prices have restricted enthusiasts from buying high-performance cars, and increasing fuel prices have even stopped them from maintaining these cars. This is where conversion projects come in. Recently, we reviewed a Civic Ferio transformed into a Civic VI RS, offering a sporty alternative without breaking the bank. Let’s dive into the nitty-gritty details of this modification project.
Overview
High-performance cars, such as the Mitsubishi Evos, once priced at around 2 to 2.5 million PKR, are now selling at 5 to 6 million PKR. Similarly, Nissan 350Zs, which were once available for 3 million PKR, now command prices up to 10 million PKR. For many car enthusiasts, these price hikes put performance cars out of reach. This is where converting a Civic Ferio into a Civic VI RS becomes a smart choice.
Originally launched in 1996, the sixth-generation Civic was a popular model in Pakistan, particularly for its sleek design and affordability. With the right modifications, the Civic Ferio can be turned into a sporty VI RS, delivering a fun driving experience without breaking the bank.
Exterior
The exterior transformation of the Civic Ferio into the Civic VI RS is where the car truly shines. The car’s paint, finished in a stunning rose mist, catches the eye immediately. Upgrades to the front, including modified fog lamps, a new front grille, and a redesigned bumper, give the car a refreshed look. On the side, a subtle character line runs along the body, with pronounced fender arches adding a sporty appeal. The 15-inch wheels maintain a clean, standard look, and the stock height is preserved for practicality. Tinted windows with a sun visor, a common feature in the local Ferio, and a sunroof add to the sleek design.
At the rear, the conversion features crystal taillights, red emblems, and an aftermarket spoiler to complete the VI RS look. To add to the sporty feel, a Mugen exhaust system delivers a satisfying growl.
Interior
Inside, the Civic Ferio’s transformation into a Civic VI RS is just as impressive. The cabin has been meticulously upgraded, and in comparison to the Toyota Corolla of the 90s, this Civic stands out for its cleaner, more modern feel. Every element, from the seats to the odometer, has been replaced to match the VI RS aesthetic.
A multi-spoke steering wheel, simple dashboard with an upgraded speedometer, RPMs, and fuel gauge. Bucket seats, power steering, power windows, and retractable mirrors add to the convenience and comfort.
Engine and Fuel Economy
Under the hood, the Civic Ferio conversion retains the reliable D16 engine, the same as the VTI Oriel variant. The car delivers a fuel economy of around 10-11 km/l in the city and 12-13 km/l on the highway, making it a decent option for daily driving as well as longer trips.
Pricing
The initial purchase price of a Civic Ferio can range from Rs. 12 to 16 lacs, depending on condition and mileage. After investing in modifications over three years, the total cost of the Civic VI RS conversion ultimately cost Rs. 20 to 25 lacs.
