The EV scooter segment in Pakistan is rapidly growing as more and more companies are investing in it. Yesterday, the government issued another 57 EV licenses to different companies, highlighting the rise of EVs. Further, various companies are working on establishing EV charging station infrastructure across the country, especially in major cities, to attract more consumers.
Last month, the government announced a massive reduction in electric tariff for charging stations, taking the unit rate from Rs. Rs. 71 per unit to Rs. 39.70 per unit. According to the authorities, the reduction in per-unit electricity rates from Rs. 71 to Rs. 39.70 for charging stations will allow up to threefold savings in travel costs compared to petrol and other fuels. This will likely result in a significant reduction in fares. Additionally, reduced reliance on petrol and other fuels will save substantial foreign exchange.
