Delayed Smart Cards in Punjab to Be Delivered in Next Few Weeks

The Excise and Taxation Department, Punjab, has announced that the delivery of delayed smart cards has been started, and all cards will be delivered within a few weeks. 

On Jan 20, 2023, the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department of Punjab tweeted regarding the latest status of delayed smart cards. The tweet was in Urdu and informed everyone that the printing of smart cards has started on an emergency basis, and delivery has been started on a daily basis by the post office. All pending smart cards will be shipped in the next few weeks.

The tweet was made on behalf of the Additional Director General of the Excise and Taxation department Punjab. 

The Punjab government had launched smart cards for cars back in 2018 but failed to deliver them to applicants even in till 2020. By January 2020, there were 50,000 pending applications on the list of Punjab’s Excise and Taxation Department. 

Finally, this year in 2023, the department has announced the delivery of delayed smart cards and has ensured citizens that they will receive their cards within the next few weeks.
