The local auto industry was pleasantly surprised when the news spread that Dewan Farooque Motors has signed a Technology License Agreement (TLA) to produce and assemble Kia cars in Pakistan. But the question was, which cars? Whether the company will enter the sedan category, choose the crossover SUV segment, or opt for hatchbacks. To know the answer, we contacted Dewan Motors company secretary Muhammad Hanif German. He told us that they are going to produce and assemble light commercial vehicles.
So, we looked for them and found these two vehicles, K2700 and K2500. Both are light commercial vehicles, and there is a huge possibility we will get these. Here are some of the salient specs and features of these two vehicles.
Kia K2700
The salient specs and features of the Kia K2700 are:
- 2,700cc J2 diesel engine with 88hp at 4,000rpm and 165 Nm of torque at 2,400rpm
- Covered rear gate chain
- Front fog lamps
- Power and tilt steering
- Radio+CD+MP3+bluetooth with USB+AUX and audio remote control
- Bluetooth steering wheel controls
- ABS
- Back Warning System
- Driver airbag
- Locking differential
Kia K2500
Then we have the Kia 2500, and here are the primary options available in this vehicle.
- A-II 2500cc diesel engine producing 127hp and 255Nm of torque
- Covered rear gate chain
- Front fog lamps
- Power and tilt steering
- Radio+CD+MP3+bluetooth with USB+AUX and audio remote control
- Bluetooth steering wheel controls
- ABS
- Back Warning System
- Driver airbag
- Locking differential
It seems both cars do not have much difference except the engine and its power. Interestingly, the 2500cc one has more horsepower and torque. Meanwhile, these vehicles have offered several basic features of commercial vehicles. We will see whether Dewan Motors will offer all of them or not in Pakistan.
