In not a good news for petrol heads, Sazgaar Engineering has increased the price of Haval Jolion for the second time. As per a notification, the new ex-factory price of the SUV is Rs6,020,000, against its old price of Rs5,725,000, meaning the car has seen a jump of Rs295,000.

And not so surprisingly, the company has blamed the high dollar rate for the hike. “Due to unfavourable fluctuation in the exchange rate of US dollar in a very short time, the company has no other option but to revise the price of Haval Jolion,” the notification read.

The notification further read this increase is unfortunate and beyond the company’s control.

Last Price Hike

In June 2021, Sazgaar increased the price of Jolion by Rs2 lacs, taking the price to Rs5,725,000 against its old rate of Rs5,525,000. The company also hiked the price of its second car Haval H6 by Rs2 lacs, bringing the rate to Rs6,495,000 compared to its old price of Rs6,295,000.

A Recap of Haval

Haval is a sub-brand of China’s Great Wall Motors (GWM). A few months ago, the car manufacturer entered the Pakistani market in partnership with Pakistan’s Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL). Under the partnership agreement, SEWL holds the right to manufacture, market, and sell Haval products in the local market.

SEWL has introduced two Haval SUVs, Haval Jolion and Haval H6, in a soft launch. Both SUVs are beyond the expectations of Pakistani buyers. The company only sells imported CBU units and tries its best to dodge the bullets of supply issues and late deliveries. We hope that it all works out for Haval Pakistan.

Dollar Rate Vs Car Prices

We have been expressing concern over the increasing dollar rate as it stands at Rs167.09 today and how it may impact the local automobile market. It is pertinent to mention that the rate fell to Rs153; however, it has bounced back in the last two months. There was a serious threat of car prices increasing, and Sazgaar Engineering is the first one doing so.

We hope that the government will devise a comprehensive policy to control the dollar rate so that the common customer can get cars at reduced prices.
