All-New Honda Civic XI has won the prestigious North American Car of the year award. The region is Honda’s single largest market for Civic. The company sold on average around 325,000 units of Civic X every year in the United States, almost 50% of global sales. Because of this huge market, Civic X and Civic XI are designed and developed by Honda design studio in Los Angels. The car was launched in April 2022 in international market.

Honda has produced nearly 11 million Civics in North America (over 5 million in the US). This number represents almost 30% of vehicle production in the region since Honda started producing cars in America in 1982.

North American Car, Utility, and Truck of the Year Awards

The honour was given to the car by a North American jury of automotive journalists. As per media reports, the jury was rather impressed by the new Civic’s fuel efficiency, low cost, dependability, and fact that it is a fun ride.

The cars receive awards in design, safety features, technology, driver satisfaction, value, and innovation. The awards were started in 1994 and judged by 50 professional automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. These journalists work for independent magazines, radio, newspapers, industry websites, and television.

Talking to the media, American Honda Motor senior official Michael Kistemaker said Honda Civic has long set the standard by which the other compact cars are measured. “This new Civic has raised that bar in every conceivable way,” he added.
