Honda HR-V VTi S vs. Hyundai Tucson GLS Sport – A Comparison

We are back with another comparison, and this article is Honda HR-V VTi S vs. Hyundai Tucson GLS Sport. Although both are from different segments, B and C to be precise, GLS is the closest to VTi S in the price range. Also, Honda is the new entrant in this category while Hyundai is an old player; hence, the comparison. 

Dimensions

The car by Honda is 171-inch long, 71-inch wide, and 63-inch high compared to Tucson’s 176-inch length, 73-inch width, and 65-inch height. As mentioned earlier, Tucson is from the C segment, which is why it is bigger than HR-V. 

Engine and Transmission

The engine in HR-V is 1500cc naturally aspirated with 119hp and 145Nm of torque. In comparison, Hyundai has installed a 2000cc naturally aspirated engine in Tucson, which produces 155hp and 196Nm of torque. 

If we compare the transmission, VTi-S has CVT, while Tucson comes with 6-speed automatic one. 

Exterior 

Both cars have smart keyless entry and push-start options in them. Meanwhile, the Honda HR-V has LED front and rear lamps with Day Time Running Lights (DRLs) and fog lamps. Hyundai offers LED headlamps with auto leveling device and LED DRLs in its crossover. Both have retractable side view mirrors with LED indicators, body-coloured door handles on the side, and high-mounted stop LED brake lights at the rear. 

 The alloy rims in the Honda crossover are 17 inches against 18 inches in Tucson. 

Interior

Honda has installed high-grade leather seats in VTi-S, while Tucson comes with fabric ones. Both have dual-zone climate control and 4.2 inches analogue TFT display. The infotainment touchscreen size in the HR-V variant is 9 inches with Android-based navigation, while GLS Sport has a 10.1 inches screen with an Android Auto system. 

The number of speakers in VTi S is four against 6 in Tucson. Both cars have wireless charger; however, there is a sunroof in HR-V VTi S. 

Safety 

 Both crossovers have Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA/VSM), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), and Hill Assist Control (HAC) as common safety features. The extra features in VTi S are Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). And the additional options in Tucson are Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Downhill Brake Control (DBC). 

Last but not least, VTi S has 4 airbags against only 2 in Tucson, making it safer than GLS Sport. 

Price 

The launch price of the Honda HR-V VTi S is Rs. 6,199,000 compared to the current rate of the Hyundai Tucson GLS Sport of Rs. 6,899,000. It means that VTi S is Rs. 7 lacs cheaper than its competitor.
