Honda HR-V VTi-S vs. Kia Stonic EX+ – A Comparison

As Honda HR-V has arrived in Pakistan, it is the comparison season for us. As all of you know, this crossover SUV has been launched in two variants, VTi and VTi S. We have already written the comparison of VTi S with Peugeot 2008 Allure and Honda Civic RS. 

In this article, we will compare the top variant of the Honda HR-V, VTi S, with the Kia Stonic EX+, also top of a line variant of this crossover. We will compare the salient features and specs of these two cars and, without further delay, let us start the competition. 

Engine and Transmission 

HR-V VTi S comes with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, producing 119hp and 145Nm of torque. The engine is mated with a CVT transmission. Meanwhile, EX+ has a 1400cc engine, which generates 100hp and 130Nm of torque and is mated with 6-speed automatic transmission. So, a clear advantage to the new entrant. 

Exterior

Both cars have LED front and rear lights, while the fog lamps in HR-V are LED compared to bulb ones in EX+. The alloy wheels size in Honda’s car is 17-inch, while Kia offers 16-inch wheels in its product. 

Once again, Honda’s car takes an edge over its competitor. 

Interior

Both cars have features of smart keyless entry and push start. The AC in VTi S is dual-zone compared to auto climate control in EX+; however, Honda is offering rear AC vents in its car as an additional feature for AC. 

Furthermore, both crossovers have 4.2-inch TFT analogue displays. However, the infotainment screen size is different as HR-V has a 9-inch android based navigation system against an 8-inch screen with Android and Apple CarPlay options. 

The number of speakers in Honda’s car is four, while EX+ comes with 6 of them. And VTi S comes with a wireless charger which Kia does not offer in Stonic. In comparison, EX+ has a sunroof, while VTi S doesn’t. 

Safety Features

Honda’s car has 4 airbags against 6 in EX+; however, the former has a couple of extra stability features like Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Emergency Stop Signal (ECC). Both crossovers have Hill Start Assist (HSA), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). 

Honda car has both rear and front cameras, while Kia is only offering a rear camera in its vehicle. On the other hand, there is no cruise control in VTi S but offered in EX+. 

Price

Honda has launched VTi S for Rs. 6,199,000, while the current rate of Kia Stonic EX+ is Rs. 4,848,000, meaning the latter is Rs. 14 lacs cheaper than the former.
